RECARO AUTOMOTIVE SEATING TO SUPPLY PERFORMANCE SEATS FOR THE NEW RENAULT MÉGANE R.S. TROPHY

At the end of the year, Renault will debut its new Mégane R.S. Trophy. Thanks to the company’s Formula One know-how, its 1.8-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged engine will pack a whopping 221 kilowatts (300 PS or 296 hp). To ensure optimal driving enjoyment and vehicle control with so much power under the hood, the “hot hatch” sports car can be optionally equipped with seats from RECARO Automotive Seating. Inspired by thoroughbred racing shells, RECARO seats offer direct feedback from the road and excellent body support. This enables the driver to feel the car’s lateral acceleration precisely and adjust cornering speeds accordingly. The RECARO seats, which are also optionally available for the Renault Mégane R.S., score additional points for their meticulously coordinated combination of carefully selected materials, and high-quality workmanship and unique design.

Kirchheim/Teck, Germany, November 22, 2018 – “Renault and RECARO share a passion for automobiles. For decades, both renowned brands have been perfecting their ability to test – and re-define – the limits. As leading brands in the field of high-performance driving, our aim is to create intense driving experiences,” said Martin C. Klein, head of RECARO Automotive Seating. “Our performance seats are the perfect match for those who aim to drive their Renault Mégane R.S. or R.S. Trophy in a sporty way and experience the controlled thrill of performance driving.”

The premium performance seats of RECARO Automotive Seating are characterized by pronounced body support of the shoulders and upper body – resulting in the occupant sitting “in”, rather than “on”, the seat. In the Renault Mégane R.S. Trophy, for example, the driver’s seat hip point in the sporty, low-slung RECARO seat is a full two centimeters lower than in the model’s standard seat. This correspondingly lowers the vehicle’s center of gravity. The seat’s body-embracing contour ensures optimum support and maximum control at the crucial interface between driver and vehicle. Formula One driver Nico Hülkenberg was impressed with the new Renault Mégane R.S. Trophy during his test drive: “I really admire the unique characteristics of the new RECARO performance seats. Their lateral stability, body support and direct feedback provide incomparable, dynamic driving pleasure without signs of fatigue,” said Renault Sport brand ambassador Hülkenberg.

RECARO Automotive Seating has contributed seats to the Renault Sport family for many years. Now its optionally available front seats for the new Mégane R.S. and R.S. Trophy take on their expressively dynamic look. Contrasting red double contour seams draw attention to the seat’s striking lines inspired by the unmistakable, slim design of classic RECARO racing shells. The seat is covered in jet black Alcantara fabric and smooth, fine leather, which combine with upholstery foams of differing firmness to provide optimum occupant hold. The sporty appearance is topped off by an elaborately embroidered, fire-red R.S. logo on the headrest and the RECARO logo on the backrest framed by an exclusive carbon look.

The Renault Mégane R.S. Trophy is the latest performance model in the Mégane R.S. range. Developed with Formula One know-how, the newest addition to Renault Sport’s series of hot hatches will come onto the market at the end of 2018. Packed with a 1.8-liter turbo petrol engine, it is the first Mégane model to break the 300 PS (296 hp) barrier – e.g. thanks to its innovative turbocharger with ceramic bearings. The R.S. Trophy can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 5.7 seconds. With its series-production cup chassis, the Trophy is clearly designed for highly dynamic driving. This is also signaled by the striking paintwork in already-familiar Sirius Yellow or in new and aggressive Tonic Orange.
